Freelance C++ engineer based near Paris.
- I currently work on the Boost Graph Library for the C++ Alliance, modernizing a 25-year-old library toward C++17 without breaking its users, through deprecation cycles rather than rewrites. In 2026 alone, 170 PRs were merged on
develop, over 100 of them mine:- Leaner library: removed around ten Boost dependencies (Spirit, PropertyTree, MPL, Range, Math, Multiprecision, Bimap...), the most common user complaint. C++17 is required from Boost 1.95.
- New algorithms: added Louvain community detection, with more planned.
- Docs and tests: migrated the documentation to AsciiDoc/Antora, rewrote tests that weren't checking anything, and fixed bugs that had been open for years.
- Infrastructure: coverage reporting, sanitizers and strict warnings in CI.
- Community: around 15 new contributors onboarded through good first issues and clear contribution guidelines, plus the Boost.Graph 2026 Workshop in Paris, which I organized.
- I'm a member of WG21, the ISO C++ standards committee, through INCITS (the US national body), sponsored by the C++ Alliance. I take part in review discussions of standards proposals, recently P3100 and P4324.
- I regularly serve as a Review Manager for Boost library submissions (Boost.Bloom, Boost.Int128).
- PhD in computational biology, 12+ years of C++.

I blog about C++ design at becheler.github.io, with recent posts on policy-based design, the singleton anti-pattern, and modern C++ patterns. Doodles are mine 😉
